Salvador is filled with color, cuisine, nightlife, and SAMBAAA! It is another fantastic spot to hit while in Brazil, especially as a solo backpacker/traveler. This travel guide to Salvador (Bahia) Brazil is perfect for solo travelers and backpackers! Must try: vatapá and acarajé!

Recommended amount of time: under a week
Where to stay (AKA the BEST hostel in Salvador!)
Nomad Coworking: Having traveled for over a year in South America, this is one of the top hostels I've ever stayed at. It is so incredibly social as everyone gathers in the lounge every night to drink and go out together. It was the most English-speaking people I have come across in my entire trip. The hostel is very clean, with comfortable beds, good wifi, hammocks, free coffee all day, and great spaces for coworking. It's perfectly located within walking distance of the beach and a short ride into the center. 10/10!!!! The hostel will tell you where the party is happening every day/ every night!
2. What to do
Explore Pelourinho and the San Fransico Church covered in GOLD

Every Sunday there is a live performance in the center where Michael Jackson shot his music video!
Mercado Modelo: The place to find tourist trinkets and gush over a lively market on the water

Orquestra Rumpilez: A must-see while in Salvador! Thursday from 7-9, live samba, caipirinhas everywhere, on the steps outside a church! It's so culturally enriching and lively! Wear white!
3. Cafes/Restaurants
Cafes:
Coffeetown Vitoria: A gorgeous double-floored space perfect for endless iced coffees and brunch. Enjoy reliable wifi and ample room to work.
Casa Castanho Barra: Enjoy brunch or a coffee bathed in sunlight and ocean breeze. Ideal for work or writing sessions.
Café Bola: A great spot near the beach for a pick-me-up coffee.
Pado Padaria: A very good breakfast spot at a local artisan bakery.
Restaurants:
Casa de Tereza: Dive into a variety of local cuisines at this authentic local spot in Salvador.
Ramma Cozinha Natural: Your go-to for salads, vegetables, and hearty natural meals. Pay-by-kilo buffet with fresh ingredients.
Delicatessen Sabor do Porto: Convenient and affordable buffet spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, perfectly located near the hostel.

Vishnu Culinaria Indiana: Craving Indian food? This is the place to go for signature dishes prepared by an Indian chef.
Sushi Barra: Fresh and cozy spot offering great sushi combos with generous portions.
Next stop: Caraiva, Baha, Brazil!
Xoxo,
