Featuring a fantastic travel guide for Huacachina and Paracas, Peru, these two iconic spots are a must while on your way North (or for a day trip from Lima!)

Hucachina is an oasis in the middle of a natural desert, closest to a town called Ica, known for its sandboarding and ATV rides through the valleys. Paracas is a lovely beach town filled with great ceviche, iconic viewpoints, and gorgeous sunsets.

Huacachina
Recommended amount of time: 1-2 days
Place of stay
Wild Rover: If wanting to experience a Wild Rover, this is the spot to do it. The music isn't blaring all night meaning a restful night of sleep will be enjoyed. The hostel has a pool, restobar, and a fine bed with private curtains.
Activity

ATV TOUR OF THE DUNES: An exhilarating ATV ride, lasting around an hour, with breathtaking views of the picturesque mini-city of Huacachina. Doing this tour during sunset is the best way to ensure an incredible experience. Sand or bodyboarding is included, followed by a stunning sunset. Thanks to some great bargaining, I secured a fantastic deal with RISHIE TOUR ICA. Arriving around 5:15 in time for the sunset and bargaining for the price is key!
Worth noting, while other companies require a walk to the starting point, RIshie Tour Ica begins right in town, a full one-minute stroll from Wild Rover.
Food
Moccachina Cafe (Mo-K): A good iced latte is so needed especially after a night in Wild Rover. This was my favorite little go to spot next to the hostel. Great lattes and even better Shakshuka!

2. Paracas
Recommended amount of time: 2-3 days
Place of stay
Viajero Kokopelli: A solid 10 out of 10 for this place and location! Although Paracas is small, at this hostel, your backyard is literally the beach. The restaurant here is great and so are the drinks from the bar. Activities happening every night and with 1-2 Maracuya slushies, everything will be gooooood.
Activities

ATV TOUR: As you step out of the hostel, you'll spot a tour company on the left, at the corner. They offer the exciting opportunity to ride your own ATV to the top sightseeing spots in Paracas. I suggest opting for this adventure in the afternoon, allowing you to enjoy a leisurely day at the beach or by the pool beforehand.
YukuPark Adventure: As I said, Viajero's backyard is a beach and this Adventure park is awaiting your company right there. Be sure to bargain and get an hour playing on the floating park.
Food
Menu del Día: At this spot, you will find a strip of restaurants that have “Menu del Día” which is a starter and main course for a fixed, affordable price. The ceviche is amazing in this town and Paracas is especially known for its shark ceviche! You will also find breakfast combos in the morning at this spot.
Fresco Open Kitchen: Artisanal and delicious desserts are featured here.
Live, laugh, love!
Next stop: Lima via bus
