With the purest and most heartfelt energy, I believe Caraiva is a top 3 spot to visit when in Brasil. This intimate city offers lively nightlife, sandy roads, a close-knit community, calming beaches, amazing drinks, good food, and warm people. Whether it's a Monday or Friday, there is live samba happening every night and everyone gets together to sing all night. You will never regret deciding to experience the magic of little Caraiva. This town provided me with healing, fun, and romantic energy. I felt so in touch with the culture of Brazil while here. I could have stayed for over a month here. Caraiva is a must-see while in Bahia, let alone Brazil, and this travel guide will do you exceptionally well!
Recommended amount of time: 5+ days

How to get to Caraiva (seems like a lot but it's not)
FLY or BUS to Puerto Seguro
take the 2-minute ferry from here to cross the river to Arraial d'Ajuda (R 5.50)
Upon Arrival at Arraial d'Ajuda vans are waiting to take you to the port of Caraiva (R 60)
It's important to pre-book transportation
Use this reliable company to pre-book transportation: +5573999177051
You need to PIX one day before to reserve your spot on the van.
Find a Brazilian or staff in your hostel to PIX for you and give them CASH!
From the port of Caraiva, you will take a 1-minute canoe to the town of Caraiva (R 7.50)

2. Where to stay:
Caramuru Hostel: 11/10! It has a prime location right on the beach, a gorgeous breezy feel, hammocks everywhere, has a bar and restaurant, housekeepers every day, and your bed is freshly made with white towels at your disposal. The house owner, Fabia, takes you in like a child! I would stay here for weeks if I could. Stay here for the sake of your soul and heart. LOL

3. What to do
All-day Buggy Ride
Indigenous community & ceremony + Carumbau beach tour
Walk to Satur Beach (~6 KM)
You must start the walk around 8-9 am. After 1 pm the tide is too high and walking back is difficult
Boat ride to visit Satur and Mirror Beach
Can be set up through the hostel
Prainha Xando (mini beach) for sunset
Boteco do Pará for sunset and a beer

4. Where to eat
Top three favorite spots (on a budget):
Tapiocaria da Paty: The best tapioca I have ever had in my life. Filled with meat and other ingredients, the tapioca is crunchy and just one is filling!
Amado Laches: Easy spot for a good burger! (+ Veg and Vegan options)
Esfiha: Lebonan x Brazilian cuisine (Lebonan empanadas)

5. The iconic Nightlife
I had some of the most wholesome nights dancing in all of Brazil! Something is happening every night! After a few nights, the city is so small you start to recognize all the locals and they recognize you. Below are the bars to go to. Each spot has its Instagram linked so you can see what is happening where.
Must try: Netuno

Beco da Lua: MY FAVORITE SPOT EVER! VIBES ARE SO HIGH HERE!

PEACE AND LOVE CARAIVA!
Xoxo,
Chelsey
